Vocational school as a school of the right choice – improving educational quality at the upper-secondary vocational schools in Słupsk

The aim of the project was to increase the levels of school graduates employability in the City of Słupsk. As part of the project assistance was provided to 1050 learners enrolled in courses from several key sectors, namely ICT and electronics, transportation, logistics, automotive industry as well as the creative sector, through participation in internships and apprenticeships. As part of the project both the teachers and the learners had the opportunity to improve their vocational competences – for teachers there were internships with employers, courses, training, post-graduate study, and the options for learners included internships and traineeships with employers, courses, training, study visits. Moreover, the schools were retrofitted with indispensable apparatus and teaching aids. Each of the schools participating in the project was also provided with vocational guidance and counselling services.

The project included entering into collaboration with local entrepreneurs, in the form of learners’ participation in internships and vocational traineeships at the workplaces. Learners were acquiring and deepening their knowledge and vocational skills under real labour market conditions. Moreover, the entrepreneurs were involved in developing the internships programme for the learners as well as collaborated with the schools regarding adaptation of the vocational schools educational offer to meet the needs of the labour market.
