Project Description
Revitalisation of the Dworcowa District in Chojnice
The Dworcowa District is an area of nearly 112 ha, inhabited by about 7,000 inhabitants. This part of the city is characterized by interesting and valuable multi-family buildings. It was inhabited by many prominent Chojniczans, the traits of which can be found on the plaques placed on the facades of the buildings. Services and trade played an important role here, and the route connecting the centre of Chojnice with the railway station was one of the most important for the city. With the decline in the importance of rail transport and economic transformation, this area lost much of its value. Problems such as poverty, crime, including domestic violence and the ageing of the local population have arisen. This was the reason why proposals for revitalisation projects were developed and included in the Municipal Revitalisation Programme of the City of Chojnice and the „Revitalisation of the Dworcowa District in Chojnice” project prepared by the partners: Chojnice Municipality, Housing Co-operative in Chojnice and 6 housing communities.
Easier, nicer, safer
Revitalisation investments will turn the Dworcowa District into a place friendler for residents. In the central point of the district, at Dworcowa Street, a building will be constructed in which the Municipal Social Welfare Centre will organize activities for the benefit of the inhabitants in a difficult situation. There will be a day-support centre providing afternoon activities for children and youth, day-care for seniors and support for families in crisis.
The common areas and surroundings of 26 residential buildings belonging to the housing communities and housing cooperative in Chojnice will be renovated. The intervention will include façades, chimneys, roofs and roof bays, stairs, lightning protection systems, staircases and installations in staircases, entrance doors and windows in common areas. Backyards will be developed in the vicinity of the buildings, as well as a resting place – benches and arbours; small infrastructure will be introduced.
A new road connection will be created – extension of Subisława Street to Towarowa Street. The road will be about 340 m long and will constitute a new connection of the eastern part of the district with the railway station and industrial areas. Along the road there will be bicycle paths, resting places, bus bays and safe parking places.
The park space of Wzgórze Ewangelickie, with an area of about 1.5 ha, will be comprehensively developed: the tree stand will be rearranged, new trees will be planted, a recreation area and small architecture will be created, and the adjacent Rolbieckiego Street will be renovated. As part of the revitalisation investments, the urban monitoring system will be extended.
When are the effects coming and how much does it cost?
