Project Description
Results of the enterprize
As part of the project, 2,771 units of lighthing sites will be ubgraded, including 1,641 units in the area of the City and Municipality of Sztum, 687 units in the area of the City of Malbork, and 443 units in the area of Stare Pole Municipality. The project proposed for all the partners a replacement of sodium outdoor light fixtures and sources of lighting with outdoor LED fixtures and light sources with accompanying equipment and the use of materials from disassembly. The project also included installing of a remote-controlled system of street lighting.
Benefits for residents
The project addresses the significant and evaluated needs with regards to outdoor street lightning. The project implementation will satisfy the urgent requirement to find solutions to the various problem issues which have been identified and which are linked to the cost-effectiveness of the system’s functioning, as well as to its environmental impact. In the municipalities which fall under the project, there is an urgent need for replacement of existing street lighting due to: the fixtures’ power usage not being in compliance with the required norms, using of out-of-date sodium and mercury lighting technology, faulty positioning of the street light poles and outreach arms in relation to the road. All of this influences high levels of energy consumption. Due to its high electrical energy consumption the present street lighting system is also emitting high levels of pollutants into the air.
Environment friendly project
The project implementation will contribute to significant improvement of environmental quality, by means of the reduction in greenhouse gasses emissions – especially of carbon dioxide. It is estimated that emissions will be reduced by 579.32 tonnes of CO2 (which translates to a reduction of 74.55 tonnes of CO2 for each PLN 1 million invested in the project). The project implementation will contribute to a reduction in electrical energy consumption at the level of 650,876.72 kWh.
