Project Description
The „Innovative Centre of integrated marine environment research laboratories for the offshore industry” is a response to the observed for several years renaissance of the marine industry and the growing demand for scientific and research support for the offshore market.
By the decision of the Board of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the offshore industry has been recognized as one of the Intelligent Specialisation of Pomerania (ISP 1 Offshore and port logistics technologies). The infrastructure of the Offshore Centre worth over PLN 36 million together with the current resources of the Institute will allow the implementation of comprehensive, specialized research and development works for the needs of innovative and dynamically developing maritime industry, which so far has not been performed by any of the research and development units in the Pomeranian region.
The modern building of the Offshore Centre will house top-class accredited laboratories adjusted to the requirements of modern maritime economy: geotechnical, ecological, mechatronics and other units and laboratories of the Maritime Institute in Gdańsk, currently located in various parts of the Tri-City. The commencement of construction works is planned for 2018 at R. de Plelo Street, in the immediate vicinity of the Wisłoujście Fortress. This location is an important asset of the Centre: direct access to the wharf not only saves time and money for investors, but also guarantees more precise measurements.
