Improving the quality of vocational education in Kwidzyń county – greater employability of students

Project activities include support for both students and teachers of vocational education in three secondary vocational schools in Kwidzyń District, which educate in the following sectors:

• Stanisław Staszic High Schools Complex No. 1 in Kwidzyń – ICT and electronics industry,
• Maria Skłodowska-Curie High School Complex No. 2 in Kwidzyń – light chemistry,
• Center for Vocational and Continuing Education in Kwidzyń – ICT,
  electronics, power engineering and eco-energy trades.

The following activities are implemented under the project:

• training/courses, including specialist ones, such as: ESD, Microsoft Windows Server, web application programming, AutoCAD, soldering, IPC, SEP, MAG 135 welding,
• professional English classes,
• internships/traineeships,
• laboratory/workshop trips to universities,
• professional meetings of vocational education teachers with local employers/entrepreneurs,
• postgraduate studies – multimedia and computer graphics.

In addition, a district system of educational and professional counseling is being developed, within the framework of which the District Counselor-Consultant has been employed, School Information and Career Points have been established in each school, the Kwidzyń Network of Educational and Professional Counselors is being developed, and additional classes in educational and professional counseling for students are being implemented. A harmonized procedure of examining the fate of graduates of schools run by the Kwidzyń District has also been adopted.

Benefits resulting from the project:

• improvement of participants’ qualifications through their participation
  in courses/training,
• improvement of participants’ competences through their participation
  in classes and internships/traineeships,
• becoming familiar with actual working conditions through participation
  in internships/traineeships,
• increasing the level of employability of graduates of vocational schools in Kwidzyń county and Pomorskie voivodeship,
• increasing the competitiveness of students in the labour market by gaining experience and qualifications by the participants,
• reduction of work/learning restrictions outside the place of residence through the possibility of acquiring a category B driving license,
• adjusting teachers’ professional competences to the requirements of the changing labour market and improving their qualifications and competences through participation in internships, courses, trainings or postgraduate studies,
• understanding of mutual needs and development opportunities in the employer/entrepreneur-teacher relationship, through participation in industry meetings and close cooperation in the implementation of internships/traineeships.
