Improvement in energy efficiency of the Powiśla and Żuławy regions

Project Description

The project in question aims to increase energy efficiency in public utility buildings by means of thermal upgrade together with the installation of photovoltaic cells on some of them for the municipalities and districts forming the Malbork – Sztum Municipal Functional Area, i.e. City of Malbork, Malbork Municipality, City and Municipality of Sztum, Sztum District, City and Municipality of Nowy Staw, Stare Pole Municipality, Malbork District.

The aim of the project is energy efficiency improvement of public buildings situated  in the Functional Urban Area (FUA) Malbork-Sztum. As part of the project, a deep thermal upgrade of public buildings was carried out. The scope of works resulted from energy, electrical and functional and utility audits. The project also included activities under the flexibility instrument category. In each of the partners, information and educational lessons were conducted to raise the awareness of residents in the field of energy savings and respect for energy. Promotional folders for adults and children were made.

Thermal upgrade activities included insulation of buildings, including walls and roofs, replacement of window and door joinery, reconstruction of HUW and CH blocks and plumbing, installation of photovoltaic panels, replacement of lighting for energy-saving ones, replacement of electrical installation.

The subject undertaking includes 39 public utility buildings in Malbork and Sztum district. With the consent of the Managing Authority, the building of the Municipal Social Assistance Centre has been replaced by the building of the „Szarotka” nursery. As of today, 37 buildings have been subjected to thermal upgrade. The Municipal Office building in Malbork and the „Szarotka” nursery building in Malbork will be completed by the end of 2020.
