Project Description
A construction project of the transport hub along with revitalization of the historical building of PKP railway station in Kwidzyn consists of 2 projects including a change in the way of using the former building of PKP Railway Station at the address: ul. Kościuszki 54 in Kwidzyn into the Centre of the transport hub together with cultural services and construction of the transport hub. Reconstruction of the existing building will consist in restoring the facades, polychrome, insulation of the roof, replacement of windows, demolition and construction of some internal walls and construction of the lift shaft.
Within construction of the hub it is also planned to reconstruct and extend the road infrastructure serving as direct access to the passenger transfer centre and to construct new parking spaces in the Park&Ride system, places of Bike&Ride type, parking places in the Kiss&Ride system, construction of bus bays, bicycle paths, pedestrian and bicycle zone and taxi rank. A part of the railway station building will be adapted to serve as a town library. The new space for travellers will be adapted to the elderly and the disabled. All rooms will be adapted to binding technical requirements which must be met by public utility buildings.
Moreover, it is planned to introduce a comprehensive information system for travellers in the form of multimedia boards informing about timetable of PKP, PKS and other carriers.
The project aims at strengthening the role of public transport in the territory of the town and the environs, contributing to an increase of its attractiveness and effectiveness.
Within promotion of the project, a promotional and educational campaign of the project is implemented, within which children from kindergartens and primary schools in Kwidzyn took part in a cycle of classes pertaining to means of transport and pro-ecological forms of transportation.
