Construction of Gdańsk Rębiechowo and Gdańsk Osowa integration nodes along with access routes

Project Description

The project will increase the efficiency and accessibility of public transport in the metropolitan area. Easy access to interchanges and the possibility of a simple change to different means of transport, such as streetcar, bus, Fast Urban Railway or Pomorskie Metropolitan Railway will increase the competitiveness of public transport in relation to individual transport. Also new bicycle routes will encourage the inhabitants of the agglomeration to change from car to bicycle during the period of increased tourist traffic (from spring to autumn). This will relieve the traffic, increase safety and reduce emissions to the environment.

The project involves the construction of integration nodes at the PKM Gdańsk Rębiechowo and PKM/PKP Gdańsk Osowa stations as well as access routes. Within the framework of the interchange in Rębiechowo a parking lot with 387 parking spaces was built, together with the technical infrastructure such as surveillance system, lighting, bicycle stands, drainage. Through the project partner, the Żukowo municipality, access roads (for bicycles, cars and public transport) and streets will be extended. Bicycle routes will be built on the route from Leźno, Lniska, Chwaszczyno, Banino, Pępowo to the new node in Rębiechowo. In total, almost 26 km of bicycle routes will be built. The integration node in Gdańsk Osowa will create an efficient and functional transport service system in the area of Osowa district and eastern part of Żukowo municipality, using access to PKM lines for public transport, bicycles, cars and pedestrians. The creation of the node will be realized by connecting Barniewicka Street with Letniskowa Street, reconstruction of the bus terminal and construction of parking lots at the PKM bus stop (40 places for cars and about 100 places for bicycles).
