Project Description
The project was divided into two tasks:
Task 1: Creation of an integrated security monitoring and passenger information management system.
In this element, the project assumes the integration and expansion of systems existing on the managed systems infrastructure, including passenger information system, video surveillance and monitoring of equipment operation. These systems will cover all platforms on the railroad line no. 250 and the Monitoring Centre will be created in the existing building of the Suburban Railway Station at Gdynia Główna station. The scope of the task also includes the adaptation of the SKM Gdynia Główna platform to check-in travellers with limited mobility, as well as modernization of the existing building of Gdynia Główna Suburban Railway Station and its immediate surroundings.
Task 2: Modernization of the platforms.
The task is to modernize the stop (platform) infrastructure located on the railroad line No. 250 in order to improve the comfort of travel for passengers and adapt the infrastructure to serve people with reduced mobility. The project involves modernization of the following passenger stops:
- SKM Gdańsk Stocznia,
- SKM Gdynia Orłowo,
- SKM Gdynia Redłowo,
- SKM Gdynia Stocznia,
- SKM Gdynia Grabówek,
- SKM Gdynia Leszczynki,
- SKM Gdynia Chylonia – task completed,
- SKM Rumia Janowo – task completed.
The Project also included works related to the preparation and supplementation of design documentation, author’s supervision and promotional activities.
The project is a continuation of the Company’s activities undertaken within the framework of the already finished undertaking „Development of fast urban railway in Tri-City” – POIS.07.03.00-00-010/10.
Objectives set for the Project:
- direct objective: to increase the number of passengers using passenger rail transport in the ZIT metropolitan area,
- specific objectives:
- creating a friendly space for travellers using stops, including protection against adverse weather conditions,
- adaptation of the stop infrastructure to the needs of people with reduced mobility,
- improving the safety of travellers on platforms and in the station building,
- ensuring proper security for the objects, facilitating preventive action against threats, and managing crises
- enabling fast and more accurate identification of installation and device failures which will enable achievement of a higher level of infrastructure reliability,
- enabling provision of up-to-date and accurate information on train travel.
The project will mainly contribute to improvement of safety, passenger service and comfort of travelling as well as availability of Tri-City in terms of transport. This will make it easier for residents of the agglomeration to move and commute to work and schools, which will have a positive influence on mobility of people and will increase attractiveness of terrains located in the vicinity of the subject investment. Fulfilment of these assumptions will significantly contribute to deepen the process of spatial and economic integration of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia and the entire metropolitan area in the Tri-City, and will positively affect the living conditions of residents. This will allow to build the image of the Tri-City as a place friendly to residents, tourists and investors, and thus affect the socio-economic development of the entire Tri-City area.
